If you have a Canon EOS DSLR we highly reccomend the Canon EOS 60DX adapter (#VX-38751). Adapter must be mounted after EX 66 extension tube when using the Flattener HD or directly onto Reducer HD when adding the focal reducer.
If you want to use a CCD or CMOS camera you can ask for a custom adapter. Metal back distance from the EX 66 extension tube or Reducer HD is 63.5 mm, thread M60x1.
The Vixen FL55 apochromatic refractor is completely made in Japan and delivers an high quality fluorite (CaF2) doublet lens with 55 mm of aperture and 303 mm focal length (focal ratio F/5.5). You will find the best optical quality as usually delivered by Vixen along a sturdy yet light optical tube. Weight of the optical tube is 1.5 Kg only!
A new apochromatic refractor with high-performance objective lens made of mineral fluorite crystal (CaF2) able to reproduce extremely clear and sharp image by extraordinary eliminating color aberration.
Optical tube is very compact (282 mm length) and light (1.5 Kg) but offers a sturdy focuser able to hold also big and bulky DSLR such as a Canon 5D Mark IV. Dedicated photographic accessories transforms the Vixen FL55SS in a fantastic astrograph corrected up to the full-frame image format (image circle 44 mm) with very high correction and limited vignetting.
Using the dedicated 1.04x Flattener HD the FL55SS transforms into a 55 mm F/5.7 astrograph (312 mm focal length). Adding also the dedicated 0.79x Reducer HD the system turns into a very wide field astrograph with F/4.3 focal ratio (237 mm focal lenght). Vignetting at the edge of the 44 mm corrected image circle is 96% and 86% respectively.

The Vixen Reducer HD Kit for Vixen FL55SS apochromatic refractor includes the Flattener HD field flattener for FL55SS, the Reducer HD aplanatic focal reducer for FL55SS and the EX Tube 66 extension tube.
It is complete correcting and reducing lens system for Vixen FL55SS fluorite apochromatic refractor designed to work with digital cameras or CCD/CMOS up to full-frame format (24x36 mm). Transforms the Vixen FL55SS into a flat field astrograps with two differents focal ratio available. You can choose to use the HD field flattener only or in combination with the HD focal reducer.
On the Vixen FL55SS optics you can use the Flattener HD only in order to get a corrected field with the highest edge illumination possibile. The field flattener enlarge focal length by 1.04x delivering a focal lenght of 312 mm (focal ratio becomes around F/5.7). With the Reducer HD for FL55SS the focal ratio goes down to F/4.3 for a focal leght of 237 mm.
All the new high performance correctors by Vixen include the highly renowned Vixen AS Coating that ensures over 99.9% light transmission for each optical surface. It is the same coating used also in the Vixen flagship VSD 5-lens astrograph. This advanced coating cuts down to a negligible effect any possibile loss of light and any ghost or flare image.

*1 : Over 60% is considered an acceptable value in photography. Field correction covers an imaging field of 44 mm big enough to cover the full-frame APS format (24 x 36 mm) and much higher than APS-C format (28.8 mm).
